Judge Mark W. Bennett is in his 18th year as a Federal District Court Judge – which he has had the 6th heaviest criminal caseload per judge of the 94 districts over the past decade. Judge Bennett has sentenced over 3500 defendants in four districts ranging from the two in Iowa to the District of Arizona and the Northern Mariana islands. Judge Bennett has sat, by designation, on both the Eighth and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals, where he has reviewed federal sentencing matters. Judge Bennett is a frequent CLE lecturer and has presented more than 325 CLE programs across North America. He has taught at Drake University Law School for more than 30 years, and has also taught at the University of Iowa and the Nebraska Colleges of Law.  He has been a visiting jurist in residence at numerous law schools. During more than sixteen years in private practice, his practice in employment discrimination, constitutional law, and civil rights took him into over 50 state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout the United States, resulting in more than seventy reported decisions.
