Dean Avi Soifer and Denise Antolini held a building project workshop at the State Capitol for State Senate and House members and University of Hawaii administrators. The first part of the workshop was a presentation by Victor Olgyay of Rocky Mountain Institute, entitled "Breaking the Barriers to Cost-Efficient Green Buildings in Higher Education: A Model for Sustainability, Innovation, and Public/Private Partnership." Victor provided data and innovative ideas about cost-efficient approaches to building a high-performance green building. The second portion of the workshop was a conference call with Donald Stastny of StastnyBrun Architects, Inc., who talked about the benefits of having a design competition for the law school project and provided details about how the process would work. These highly informative presentations were followed by a question and answer session.
