Why Hawai‘i?

Our LLM Program provides foreign students with a broader understanding of U.S. and international legal issues, which is increasingly important in the global economy.

Personal Attention Our entire staff is dedicated to helping you maximize your experience here. The Law School has one of the best faculty-to-student ratios in the U.S. Our small enrollment enables us to give you more personal attention to craft a program of study that suits your academic goals.

Special Courses for LLM Students We offer special courses to introduce LLM students to the American legal system and to U.S. legal writing.

LLM Specializations LLM students have the option of earning specializations in Business & Commercial Law, Conflict Resolution, Environmental Law, International & Comparative Law, and Ocean Law & Policy.

Transfer to the JD Program Exceptional LLM graduates may apply to transfer to our JD program without taking the LSAT exam.

University of Hawai‘i Resources The University of Hawai‘i has a long history of serving thousands of international students and there are many resources available to you, including the International Student Services office and the world-famous East-West Center.

The Hawai‘i Experience When you take a break from your studies, Hawai‘i offers opportunities for year-round recreation, including golf, surfing, football, hiking and cultural events. The variety of places to eat, shop, dance, explore and relax is unmatched anywhere.
