Mary Boland and Kathy Yokouchi will discuss how health care reform will change the role of APRNs in our health care delivery system. An expanded role for nurses, and particularly Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, is critical to the success of the Affordable Care Act. A patchwork of state laws, often the result of turf wars rather than evidence, limits nurses from practicing to the full extent of their education and training.

Mary Boland is Dean and Professor at the School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene.
Kathy Yokouchi is a retired executive for the Hawaii Board of Nursing. She currently serves as a policy analyst at the Center for Nursing
