Why did you choose UH Law?
I chose UH law because I knew that I wanted to practice law in Hawaiʻi and I felt that going to Hawaiʻi’s only law school would be a great opportunity to network in the law community. UH Law was also a much cheaper alternative for me than going to a mainland law school. I was attracted by UH Law’s diversity and the non-cut-throat environment and I was happy to find that the professors and students are very welcoming. Everyone’s goal is to learn and I appreciate that.

What were you doing before you started Law School?
After graduating from NYU, I moved back to Hawaiʻi and worked as a server at a restaurant and a legal assistant for an attorney in private practice.

Where are you headed after you graduate?
I would like to practice law in Hawaiʻi. I’m leaning towards public interest law and considering working for a non-profit assisting victims of domestic violence. I really want to use my law degree to help people achieve equal access to the legal system.

Describe UH Law in three words
Stimulating, Challenging, FUN!

What advice would you give to an entering law student?
I would advise an incoming student to take advantage of as many organizations as possible and attend as many activities as possible. I found that the challenging course load and reading should be balanced with relaxation and enjoyment. The law school provides so many opportunities to bond with classmates and to get involved in Hawaiʻi’s legal community, as well as experience hands-on learning in the work field. I highly recommend Ete (flag football) for all women, athletic or not! Ete brings the whole law school together for the fall semester!

What do you wish someone had told you before you started?
Don’t be scared! You are not in law school by accident. Just try your best. Don’t worry about how other people are doing what they are doing. You will find your own way to study and your own way to learn. Also, you will meet some of your best lifelong friends at law school and it just may end up being the best three years of your life. UH Law is a great place to experience this. You will meet people from all walks of life, all ethnicities, all ages. You and your classmates will go through three intense years together and come out of it with very close, strong relationships.

What Law School organizations/activities are you involved in?
Ete (Women’s Flag Football), Delta Theta Phi, Law and Business Organization, Advocates for Public Interest Law, Pacific Asian Legal Studies Organization, Hawaiʻi Women Lawyers, and UH Law Ambassadors.
