Center for Island Climate Adaptation and Policy

The Center for Island Climate Adaptation and Policy (ICAP) facilitates a sustainable, climate-conscious future for Hawaiʻi, the Pacific, and global island communities.

Located at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM), ICAP serves as a focal point for climate expertise. It connects individuals and institutions to the rich climate knowledge housed at the University. Through research, collaboration, and outreach, ICAP gives communities the information and tools to develop sound adaptive strategies.

ICAP is a University of Hawai‘i Sea Grant Center of Excellence in partnership with the University of Hawai‘i William S. Richardson School of Law, the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology, the Hawai‘inuiākea School of Hawaiian Knolwedge, and the College of Arts and Sciences. ICAP is led by Maxine Burkett, Associate Professor at the William S. Richardson School of Law.
