LLM Financial Aid

Applicants are expected to have sufficient funds to cover their travel, living and educational expenses. Financial assistance through the University is only open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Students seeking financial assistance from outside agencies should plan to begin their search for funds as soon as possible, as many deadlines for assistance are in October or November for the following year.

Please find information about two fellowships below.

  • Asian Development Bank and East-West Center Fellowships: Qualified applicants from Asia and the Pacific, including Russia, are eligible to apply for an East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship, which would cover at least part of the cost of study at the Law School. If you are a citizen of a developing country member of the Asian Development Bank, you are also eligible to apply for one of the East-West Center's ADB-Japan fellowships, which cover all expenses for your study here. You can read more about the requirements of both grants at the Center's website at www.eastwestcenter.org (click on "Education"). You can also download applications from the website. Applications must be returned to the East-West Center and postmarked by November 1.
  • Fulbright Fellowships: You may also wish to consult the U.S. Embassy, Consulate or Educational Exchange Commission for information about Fulbright travel grants and other fellowship opportunities, such as World Bank or Asian Development Bank fellowships. Fulbright scholarships provide a stipend and a significant contribution toward tuition and fees. The selection process varies from country to country; for more information on the Fulbright process in your country, consult http://fulbright.state.gov/. You might also want to contact the United States Information Agency, Washington, DC 20547, for more information in locating sponsoring institutions. Corporations, firms and other organizations may also provide at least partial support for their employees or members.
