When is my application due?

Please see Admissions.  We might consider late applications if spaces are available.

When will I know if I have been admitted?

We begin to review applications in early January.  We will notify admitted students by email and mail as we make admissions decisions.

I am an admitted student. Where can I find the information I need for the Fall?

We created a private social network for admitted students on Ning. We will post the deadlines, forms, and other important information there. If you received an email invitation from the LLM Admissions Office, please click on the yellow "Log In" link in the email. If you clicked on that link and are still having trouble signing in, please email lawweb@hawaii.edu. If you did not receive an email invitation from the LLM Admissions Office, please email lawllm@hawaii.edu. Mahalo!

When does the program begin?

New students are admitted once a year for the fall semester (mid-August).

May I attend part-time?

No. We do not have a part-time LLM Program (There is a part-time JD program.).

May I transfer into the JD program?

In rare cases, we allow exceptional LLM students to transfer into our JD program upon graduating from the LLM Program. This is a case-by-case determination based upon the candidate's academic performance during the year.

How much does the LLM program cost?

Please see LLM Tuition.

Is financial aid available?

Please see LLM Financial Aid.  You must have sufficient funds to cover your travel, living and educational expenses. University financial aid is only available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. If you are looking for other financial assistance, please begin your search as soon as possible.  Many deadlines are in October or November.

Are scholarships available?

Please see LLM Financial Aid.

Does the Law School provide housing?

No. But there is limited dormitory-type housing on the University campus for professional students. Most law students prefer to live off-campus in shared houses or apartments. For both campus and off-campus housing information, please visit the University of Hawaʻii at Mānoa Student Housing Services website.
