Financial Aid

Federal School Code: 001610

If you intend to apply for financial aid (Subsidized or Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, GradPLUS loans, need-based opportunity grants, and work-study), file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online as early as January 1, 2010 and no later than March 1, 2010 to meet the priority deadline.

Step 1: Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • Applications received by March 1 will receive priority consideration.

  • Students who have never filed a FAFSA will need to apply for a PIN. The PIN is used to electronically sign your FAFSA application.

  • When you have completed your FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). Please check the accuracy of this report.

Step 2: Check your application status on MyUH.

  • Log in to MyUH and select "Financial Aid" from the left hand column. Click on "My Overall Status of Financial Aid" and choose the correct school year.

  • You will see a screen that has active links for your classification, student requirements, cost of attendance, and messages.

  • It is important that you check your student requirements link to verify that you do not have any outstanding requirements. If there are outstanding requirements, the Financial Aid Office will not be able to process your financial aid.

Step 3: Receive your award package.

  • Once you have completed all of the necessary requirements, you will receive an award package. You should receive an email indicating that you have an award offer. (You can log in to MyUH at any time to see if your award status has been updated).

  • When you have an award package available, you should make a decision as to whether you will "accept" or "decline" the awards given to you. After making these decisions, you should revisit the student requirements section to make sure any additional student requirements have been completed.

Step 4: Collect your financial aid disbursement.

  • You can check your financial aid status by visiting MyUH. Choose "Review my Charges." If you have a disbursement, you will see a refund and refund amount.

  • Funds will be mailed to you unless you have signed up for ERefunds. Please make sure that your mailing address is correct in MyUH.  We strongly encourage you to sign up for ERefunds.
